Britons rate their bosses?

What’s this? A new survey has been published which finds that two thirds of British workers feel their boss is a good leader, and three quarters say they are proud to work for their organisation.

This of course contradicts the majority of recent reports that fewer than half feel ‘very committed’ towards their organisation (Roffey Park), a third of workers don’t feel their boss is a good leader (Sheppard Moscow. Recruitment agency Monster, by the way, claims that one in four bosses are thought of as bad or dreadful) and numerous other surveys which demonstrate lack of engagement, mistrust in their leadership and lack of pride in their organisation. All of which is bad news for senior managers who are looking to get the best out of their workforce.

Perhaps we’ll never get an accurate snapshot of the situation through these surveys. But one thing is absolutely clear. An engaged workforce is almost certainly going to put in the discretionary effort which will ultimately improve performance and shareholder value.
